We strive to produce and raise puppies and dogs with conservation or improvement in the health, temperament, and structure of the Alaskan Klee Kai. We heavily record genetic-related aspects of the dogs, including health and immunity, phenotypes, and epigenetics to further the general knowledge and advancement of the breed. Of course, we want to provide the best dogs for people who love them and would provide the best homes our puppies can excel in!

I'm Chelsea, owner and operator of Aspen Veil, a small program located in Northeast Oklahoma. I first heard of the Alaskan Klee Kai in 2006 from an online showing/breeding dog simulation game. Intrigued by this unfamiliar breed, I decided to do some research and instantly fell in love. After growing up with Alaskan Malamutes, I adored the idea of having what I thought would be a "mini-mal". However, being in high school with a budding art business and the intention to attend college, I did not have the finances nor time for a dog.
Fast forward 11 years, and I found myself in Peyton, CO, where I met Chris Shackelford and Eileen Gregory just by chance and met the breed in-person. I couldn't put a puppy down as I learned more about the breed and its history from Chris and Eileen, and I was head over heels at that point. Of course, I had just moved and did not have the finances or time to dedicate to another puppy as I was raising my own service dog.
In 2021, I was reminded by an old middle school job fair project that I wanted to breed and raise cats and/or dogs. At that moment, something clicked and I wanted to pursue that. I contacted Chris with my intentions and wanted to visit again and discuss goals, ideas, and methods. I was referred to other breeders to speak to for advice and ideas, and I wiggled my way into the AKK community, learning more with every new connection. Eventually, I felt ready to bring home a female puppy in late 2022 or early 2023.
Fate had different plans though. In April 2022, friends from Proper Klee Kai and ICE Alaskan Klee Kai contacted me about a nice show prospect boy. I still had two months left in my apartment lease before moving to Oklahoma, so I thought,
Why not? I was working from home, I had the time, I had flexibility in my budget, and I had the resources (and was about to have more)! So, after over 15 years of waiting, I brought home my first AKK, my little boy
Kaiser.
